Questions

How can we increase self-consumption without adding a battery?

Self-consumption is the energy generated by your photovoltaic system that you use on the property itself. Without a battery, you can increase it by shifting flexible consumption to times when generation is available.

  • Schedule suitable appliances, such as a washing machine or dishwasher, in accordance with their safe-use instructions.
  • Consider operating a pool pump or other programmable loads during generation hours.
  • Use compatible automation for car charging or water heating, provided the installation supports it.
  • Use the app to check when an actual surplus is available and distribute loads throughout the day.

Not all appliances need to run at the same time. If total demand exceeds available generation, the difference is supplied by the grid. Also, unnecessary consumption does not become financially worthwhile just because the sun is shining.

Start with small changes that work for you and check the results in the readings. For permanent electrical loads, suitable automation and protective measures should be selected by a qualified technician.
