It may be, but you need to consider when you use electricity and how the energy generated will be used. Being away at midday doesn’t mean your home uses no electricity: the refrigerator, devices on standby, and scheduled loads continue to operate.
With net billing, using the energy you generate directly and feeding surplus energy into the grid are treated differently financially. We don’t assume that every kilowatt-hour generated at midday offsets an equal amount of electricity you buy in the evening.
Before deciding, compare a system without a battery, a solution that shifts suitable electricity use to generating hours, and a solution with storage. A battery can shift some of the energy to the afternoon, but it adds cost and losses.
At Solar Home, we consider your schedule alongside your consumption data. The goal is an installation that fits your daily routine without requiring changes you can’t maintain.
