As of 1.1.2024, an important measure is in effect to support small residential self-consumption systems, with or without a battery. If you are not participating in a subsidy program, you may benefit from tax deductions (tax deductions do not apply if you are already receiving a subsidy through a program).
According to Law No. 5073/2023, Government Gazette 204A/11.12.2023, expenses incurred to purchase goods and receive services related to the energy, functional, and aesthetic upgrades of buildings that have not already been included in, and will not be included in, a building upgrade program reduce the personal income tax of individuals in equal installments over a period of five (5) years, up to the amount of tax due for each tax year, with a total maximum expenditure limit of sixteen thousand (16.000) euros. The amount of expenditure on the purchase of goods taken into account for the tax reduction may not exceed one third (1/3) of the expenditure on services taken into account for the tax reduction.
The measure covers photovoltaic self-consumption systems with or without storage.
