Questions

How do we monitor our solar system’s production and consumption?

You can usually monitor the system through an app or online platform provided by the manufacturer. Depending on the equipment, it may display real-time power, daily and monthly production, battery status, and alerts.

To also see your home’s total consumption, the amount drawn from the grid, and the amount fed into it, you usually need a compatible metering device installed in the correct location. The inverter’s production reading alone does not measure how much electricity the entire property consumes. Monitoring each panel also requires suitable additional equipment.

At handover, log in from your own device and ask for an explanation of the key readings, the time of the last update, and the alerts. Keep your own account with recovery details that you control.

App readings are useful for monitoring operation and making comparisons. They may differ from the certified meter data used for billing because of differences in measurement points, time intervals, and losses.
