Battery Storage for Your Business: Prepare Your Assessment Before New Subsidies Open

What information you need to assess a battery for your business and compare solutions without relying on a possible subsidy.

Battery Storage for Your Business: Prepare Your Assessment Before New Subsidies Open
If you are considering a battery for your business, you can start with information about your installation and energy consumption. This will help you understand what is worth exploring, regardless of whether new funding is announced.
What we know about new incentives
A report dated 16 October refers to planned energy storage initiatives, including one for businesses. This information relates to planning. When the sources were checked on 19 October 2026, no open call for applications for this specific new initiative could be verified. The beneficiaries, terms and evaluation process will be set out in the official documents, if they are published.
This new report should not be confused with the earlier “Energy Storage Systems for Businesses” program, for which the Ministry of Environment and Energy announced provisional results lists on 18 September 2026.
What to gather before requesting a proposal
  • Electricity bills for the last 12 months and details of your tariff.
  • Operating hours, working days and seasonal variations. Note when your largest loads are in operation.
  • Hourly or quarter-hourly consumption readings, if available. If you don’t have them, note the hours when your main equipment is used.
  • For an existing solar PV system: capacity, inverter model, connection details and available generation data.
  • Photos and basic measurements of the potential installation area, along with information about access and the electrical panel.
  • Your goal: making greater use of your generation, covering consumption when there is no sunlight, or exploring backup power.
Ask for a comparison using the same assumptions
The proposal should show the solar PV system without storage and the solution with a battery separately. If you already have a solar PV system, the comparison should cover its current operation and the addition of storage. Keep the assumptions about consumption, generation and energy prices consistent.
Ask for the comparison to show the additional cost, estimated additional savings, losses, warranties and maintenance requirements. The basic financial assessment should stand on its own without a subsidy. A potential incentive scenario can be added separately once the terms have been published.
When further assessment is needed
Total annual consumption alone is not enough to select a battery. You need to assess when generation is available and when the stored energy can be used. If there isn’t enough data, the next step is measurement and technical assessment.
For the technical upgrade steps, see our guide to adding a battery to an existing solar PV system.
At Solar Home, we compare options with and without a battery and discuss the assumptions behind the proposal. Send us your initial details so we can consider the next step.
Request a storage assessment
In your message, include your location, business activity, operating hours and whether you have a solar PV system. For an initial enquiry, a description is enough—the team will guide you on which files are needed.
