Solar PV for Businesses program on track
The new program of the Ministry of Environment and Energy “Solar PV for Businesses” is expected to be announced in the coming days. It will subsidize businesses to install self-generation systems, with or without battery storage.

According to information available, the program will have a total budget of 160 million euros and will provide support for businesses to install either standalone photovoltaic systems or systems combined with a battery for storing electricity.

The program is expected to subsidize more than 3.000 businesses across the country. It is noted that there will be provisions to ensure that companies of all sizes can participate, while information suggests that most of the funding will be directed to small businesses.

The program will subsidize both the photovoltaic system and, in particular, the battery, at different rates. Specifically, it will subsidize both “standalone” photovoltaic systems for projects without a battery and solar systems combined with a storage unit.

These systems will not be connected to the grid, since  their output will be used exclusively to meet the businesses’ energy needs.

Subsidy limits

The subsidy rate for installing a photovoltaic system will be up to 20%, and for batteries up to 40%. The total subsidy may not exceed 15 million euros per beneficiary, while the maximum subsidy for the photovoltaic system is set at up to 110.000 euros/MW, and for the battery up to 160.000 euros/MW.

A key condition for participating in the program is conducting an energy audit before and after the intervention. The maximum eligible capacity for the photovoltaic plant receiving funding is set at 2MW. As for the storage system, it must have a minimum installed capacity of one hour, while the maximum eligible capacity that will receive funding is set at 2 hours.

The program is managed by the Ministry of Environment and Energy, whose responsibilities include designing the relevant procedures, approving beneficiaries, and conducting systematic and sample-based checks to ensure compliance with the action’s terms and conditions. The implementation body is TAIPED, specifically its Strategic Contracts Unit, which will receive funding applications and review and evaluate them. It will also examine any objections submitted and make recommendations for decisions confirming project completion.

The program guide is now ready, and only the final details remain before it is made public in the coming days.

Beneficiaries will be selected based on selection criteria.
