Already 1.800 households are lined up for the “Photovoltaics on Rooftops” subsidy program, awaiting news of its launch.
The figure comes from applications submitted to grid operator DEDDIE for a grid connection, which is a prerequisite for applying to join the program once the relevant platform opens. Households are trying to get ahead of the queue, as the program guide, published in March, provides for applications to be included on a first-come, first-served basis.
Indeed, due to the high level of interest, the competent ministries are reportedly moving to increase the funds allocated, from 200 million euros to at least 230 million euros, in order to subsidize as many beneficiaries as possible. If this proves to be the final amount, the number of households and farmers receiving subsidies to install solar panels will increase from 30.000 to 33.000-35.000, and the total capacity of subsidized solar energy feeding into the grid will rise from 150 to 170 megawatts.
Unofficially, since the DEDDIE platform opened, approximately 3.900 applications for grid connections have been submitted, most of them by private individuals.
